About HerWILL
HerWILL is advocating for gender and racial equality by bridging the gap between marginalized communities and opportunities in Data Science & AI.
Worldwide, women are treated second to men.
Girls are often denied an education, forced into taking family responsibilities, and blocked from leadership opportunities.
Educated and respected girls have been the exception, not the norm.
That’s why our focus is on HER.
It’s not just about filling seats; it’s about fulfilling potential.
By addressing these challenges head-on, HerWILL seeks to dismantle the barriers that hinder women's participation and leadership in the technology industry. By creating a supportive ecosystem that fosters inclusivity and equality, we believe we can cultivate a future where women of all backgrounds are equally represented and celebrated in the technology sector.
We encourage women from all academic backgrounds to join the Data and AI revolution by offering basic to higher level customized workshops and project experiences. At the same time, we acknowledge that Data Science and AI are among the fastest-growing fields, yet women's representation in these areas remains dismally low. Our model is globally collaborative, creating opportunity pathways that connect the U.S. with countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Our Approach
Though women make up almost half (47%) of the US labor force, their representation in the technology sector lags significantly behind. The gender gap persists, with women constituting only 28% of the STEM workforce. Furthermore, a mere 9% of this demographic hails from underrepresented communities. These statistics are even more disheartening when considering leadership and upper management roles, where the numbers dwindle significantly.
We recognize that several factors contribute to this underrepresentation. One prominent issue is the scarcity of role models and mentors for aspiring women in tech. Without visible examples of successful women navigating the industry, it can be challenging for young girls and women to envision themselves pursuing careers in technology. Additionally, the lack of accessible leadership training programs tailored to women's needs further exacerbates this disparity, hindering their advancement into higher-ranking positions within tech companies.
Furthermore, women, particularly those from underrepresented communities, often face systemic barriers that impede their progress in the tech sector. These barriers include limited access to healthcare, which can impact their overall well-being and ability to thrive professionally. Additionally, the disproportionate burden of domestic duties placed on women can impede their career trajectories, as they may have less time and energy to devote to professional development and advancement opportunities.
