Farzana Hussain Awarded Fellowship from AIM-AHEAD Program

Farzana Hussain, an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Mathematics at Houston-Tillotson University, has been recognized for her exceptional work in advancing health equity through artificial intelligence and machine learning. Hussain, a participant in the first cohort of the AIA4OPT Faculty Training Program, was awarded a fellowship from the AIM-AHEAD (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity) program. The fellowship, funded by the National Institutes of Health, aims to address disparities in healthcare through data science and AI applications.

Hussain’s efforts contribute to the mission of AIM-AHEAD, which seeks to empower underrepresented communities by using data to tackle health disparities. We congratulate her on this prestigious honor and look forward to her continued contributions in the field.


Yao Xie Receives the Donald P. Gaver Jr. Early Career Award

At INFORMS 2022, Yao Xie, a dedicated member of AIA4OPT, was honored with the Donald P. Gaver Jr. Early Career Award for Excellence in Operations Research. This prestigious recognition is awarded annually to a researcher who has made outstanding contributions to the field of operations research. Xie’s research, which focuses on critical decision-making and optimization, has advanced the field significantly.

Farhana Hasan Receives Fellowship from the International Women's Forum

Farhana Hasan, the Founder and CEO of HerWILL, has been awarded the 2022-2023 Leadership Fellows Fellowship by the International Women’s Forum (IWF). This recognition highlights her leadership in advancing STEM opportunities for women and underserved communities. Hasan's team works closely with the AIA4OPT Institute to support young girls and women in STEM fields, empowering them with the tools and knowledge to succeed.
